Physical Rehabilitation: Veterinary Cold Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is the only course of treatment that actually stimulates the body to heal from within. Therapy lasers, which have been FDA approved since 2005, increase the release of endorphins in tissue so that the perception of pain is diminished. It reduces inflammation by decreasing inflammatory mediators, increasing phagocytosis (white blood cells and immune system), and reducing edema or swelling. It accelerates healing by increasing the blood flow and collagen to damaged tissue.

Totally non-invasive; it doesn’t hurt and your pet does not need sedation. It has the benefit of being drug-free, non-surgical and a safe means of providing pain relief. Laser therapy treatments can be used for the following:
  • Arthritis
  • Insect bites/Stings
  • Lacerations/Abrasions
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Wound healing
  • Burns
  • Numerous skin conditions
  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Otitis externa (chronic ear infection)
  • Cystitis (chronic bladder infection)
  • Soft tissue injury
  • Surgical incisions and much more

Cost of treatments range between $25-40. Treatment of multiple joints can cost up to $60. Please call 510-790-2525 for more information and to discuss the particular needs of your pet and how laser therapy can be beneficial to them. Laser treatments can be bought as a package of six treatments, that way it costs less per treatment session and usually most of the conditions require multiple sessions.
